Welcome to my site, Jolirose! This is a name I conceived by combining “joli” which is French for pretty, and “rose” which is French for pink. I love France and everything related to French style, old and new. I am obsessed with sewing, and of course, fabric and lace. I specialize in making custom lingerie, garments and also items to make the home beautiful, such as slip covers and drapes. All of my sewing is done in my Jolirose Sewing Studio. Baking and traveling are other passions of mine. Honestly, I love to bake because I have a insatiable sweet tooth. I love to travel because it opens my mind to other cultures and feeds my creativity. France is my favorite place to go; I find inspiration wandering through ancient villages in search of antiques, fabrics and inspiration for my sewing designs, and of course, sampling as many croissants, macarons, tarts and cakes as possible along the way. Oh, and I love to knit, too, and don’t get me started talking about yarn!
After a successful corporate career in engineering and management, I decided to completely refocus my life when my husband and I were relocated from Alexandria, Virginia to Martinez, California in late 2016. I developed Jolirose as a lifestyle blog where I can share the items I sew, the things I bake and the places my husband and I travel, with you. This site is for all of you who have similar interests and aspirations for creating a more beautiful life, and for sharing your latest makes, and your knowledge and insights, too!
